The one reason a psychic won't do a reading for you
So there is more than one reason a psychic won’t do a reading for you, but the main reason is due to ethical concerns. Other factors might be unreadable energies or a client’s emotional state. If someone is skeptical they will block any connection and therefore become “unreadable”.
Deciding to turn someone away is never easy. It’s a decision not taken lightly, rooted in ethical, professional, or spiritual considerations. The intent of a reading is to empower a client to feel more confident and clearer on their pathway. Psychics may choose to decline a session if the circumstances aren’t right or feel ethically compromised.
And I mean sure, I get it, psychics in the past have been used like fortune tellers, and have pried into other people’s lives close to the client. But this isn’t right. And there is a difference between intruding on someone else’s privacy, tuning in without permission to know their feelings, movements or actions and bringing through information that helps a client understand the relationship (for example) and what might help them to navigate the situation.
Having a psychic reading is a deeply personal and private experience. As a psychic, I want the best outcome for my clients, and set intentions for this. I also don’t work as a fortune-teller. I believe in free-will. What happens if I say you’ll meet Mark on this date in these circumstances (which I may add, does not come through for me) that then influences you to only look for Mark, but Peter and Paul may walk by and be the perfect match!
Let me break down the reasons a psychic might turn you away or steer off certain questions or topics.
Reasons a psychic may turn away a client or decline a question
Ethics: A professional psychic follows a set of ethical standards. If a client asks something that goes against these, we might avoid answering. For instance, we're not doctors or lawyers, so we can't give advice in those areas.
Respecting boundaries: If a question is too personal—like digging into someone else’s private life—we may kindly decline. The purpose of a reading is to empower you, not invade someone else’s privacy.
Skepticism. It’s important to come to a reading with an open mind. If you're really skeptical or doubtful, it can block the flow of information and affect the reading.
Being under the influence of substances: Readings need a clear, focused energy exchange. If someone’s been drinking or using substances, it can interfere with that connection, making it hard to have a meaningful session.
Exhaustion: Psychics are human too, and we need our energy to connect. If we’re feeling drained or unwell, we might suggest rescheduling to ensure the reading is as accurate and helpful as possible.
Energy compatibility: Sometimes, a psychic might sense that their energy doesn’t align with a client’s. This isn’t personal or reflect on the client - it just highlights the importance of finding the right energetic match for a reading.
Preparing for a reading
So what can you do to prepare for a great reading? Very simply:
Come with an open mind and kindness. A psychic reading is most effective when there is mutual trust and openness. Be open and receptive to the insights shared.
Drink water prior and during as this helps with the flow of energy.
As much as possible don’t be afraid! Nothing scary will happen. I know as a psychic this is a sacred space and take great care to ensure my clients feel safe and comfortable. All readings are confidential.
Conclusion
In the end, the intention of a psychic reading is to leave you feeling empowered with clarity about your situation. A professional psychic may respectfully decline certain questions or steer you onto a different type of psychic, if expectations do not align.
As always, go with the gut when making a decision about who to have a reading with. The body talks!
